Pancakes? French toast? or Waffles?

Waffles gets 1st. Especially the really good kind that have syrup that seeps into them.

French toast is 2nd. It tastes soo good with maple syrup.

Pancakes 3rd. I've had a whole bunch.

I like all three. Variety is the spice of life, and they all have a number of options in preparing and enjoying.

Have you ever used syrup or brown sugar in your pancakes instead of white, and crumbled some bacon in them?

There's no fried mush choice. Not that it's very popular.... I will always choose mush

That too. And that sucks. I have honey wheat. Not preferred but okay I guess. Just finished the white.

Apparently, you've never had real French toast. If it's mushy, that's a problem.

Yes.

Pancakes are super easy and quick to make and super easy to alter the recipe for variety.

Waffles are nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. They take about as much time to make as pancakes although altering the recipe is slightly trickier. They can hold up to more robust toppings.

French toast is delightful when done properly but is definitely the easiest of the 3 to botch. So many factors go into French toast...the type of bread, the thickness/uniformity of the slices, length of cook time, heat, how long you let the bread soak up the egg mixture, spices, it's just a lot. But the eggs add protein which can make french toast more filling than the other two.

All three are delicious and all three make for great leftovers that can be heated quickly in the toaster. The 11yo was stoked when he found out we're having waffles for dinner tonight in part because it means a quick and easy breakfast for him tomorrow
