This is my third hatch. Today is day 20 and nothing yet. I got spoiled with my other hatches. My first chick ever showed up at day 19 in the morning. The others followed within a day. My second hatch everyone was hatched out by day 21. I am trying to remain calm and realize it's still early since they technically aren't due until tomorrow (afternoon), but this is nerve wracking.

Oh btw these are seven GL Cochins who I think are so beautiful! I can't wait to see them.

I agree! You need to find you something to do, and get away from that bator....... patience is a virtue and I have none.....

Ooooohh! I hatched a bunch of GL bantam cochins last week. They are just beautiful. I read somewhere, once upon a time, that cochins tend to hatch slightly late. I don't know if this is true or not. Just be patient. Good luck!!

Wouldn't that be something if it was a fact that cochins hatch late? For now I am going to take that response and run with it.

Oh yah I am finding stuff to do. I have been mowing, raking, and working in my garden. I came to get some inside chores done since it was raining. I guess that is what got me checking on my bator.
I didn't not candle this time. I did my last two times, but I had three quitters and blame myself since I am not the best at candling. I am doing a trial and error thing in my own head I guess. ???

Time will tell for now.

Put an ear to the bator this evening when its quiet and listen for peeping

I have been doing that all day. It's pretty quiet in here today. The kids and dh are outside playing. The only thing loud around here is Bingo my 11 week old cockerel who won't shut up! I think he is actually reminding me to check my eggs every 20 seconds.
