I had a chick that died like this but of course it was knocked around alot

I can’t tell for sure from your picture, did it pip the correct end thru the air cell?

I thought that might be the case.

Is it very active?

If you feel like it’s getting distressed, you can peel off some of the shell and check. Try to flick only the shell off first, then moisten the membrane with some coconut oil or Vaseline or something like that. When you moisten the membrane, it will turn clear and you can see if any blood vessels are big and active.
Try not to break any blood vessels, but try to make sure the bill is in a position where it can breathe easily.

If the blood vessels are receded, you can peel some of the membrane back. Just don’t pull him out of the shell yet. Let him push out on his own.

This is kind of the goal to start, but hope the blood vessels aren’t this strong.

I try not to assist until they seem to be getting too weak to continue on their own. It’s a tough call, you will just have to trust your gut.

Since it pipped on the wrong end, the air cell membrane could possibly be impeding it’s progress. Usually they can still hatch ok from the wrong end, they just take longer since they didn’t spend the 24 hours in the air cell like normal. See, it skipped that step, so extra time is somewhat normal.
