I have my 2 month old chicken in closed run. They used to be brave and nosy, but for last three days they have been acting strangely. If one of chickens happens to clap wings loudly or anything else spooks them, the whole flock scrambles towards the coop hitting feeders, walls, anything on their way. Today they spent most of the day in the coop.
They used to come up to me and tried to peck me, in a friendly, curious way, but now they stare at me suspiciously from the other end of the run. Why? Nothing has changed in their lifestyle as far as I know.
Please tell me it is just the teenage phase and it will pass. Is it? Will it?

I be thinking that something has been upsetting your birds when yr not around, it could be a cat, dog or even a mink. Mine acted like that when we had a loose ferret roaming around the area, it tried to get in to one of the pens one evening and I nearly caught it. It was a big white one with a marking on its back, someone had dumped it near by. Several people tried to catch it over the next few days n it was eventually found dead on the road a week later.

That first night that the ferret tried to get in the run the birds were very skittish, it tried again the next evening when I saw and nearly caught it. That night we caught all the birds and put them in a stable and locked them in as the stable is vermin proof, but it took them a good couple of weeks to calm down again. I always lock my birds in at night anyway in there coops and let them out in the pens during the day. But even so if somethings been around they always act very skittish for a while.

If you cant find a reasson for there panic

In my experience chickens go throught 3phases chick=nice and friendly
Juvenile=skittish fly every where
Hen= calm and back to friendly

But it sounds like there spooked about somthing
