hey! I have 2 ducklings and one of them has been very sneezy today and was panting when I was holding him, his toes were very hot and so was his beak, he was having swim time about 5 minutes ago and was panting after a few minutes. please help! I live in a suburb area and don't know any vets, do you think he maybe too hot? because he was stretching his legs. he was a little sneezy yesterday, if not what medication will be great for him or do I need to find a vet?
thank you! :(

What are you using for bedding? Do you have a warm and cool side of the brooder?
i use shirts because i saw a video that said the ducklings eat the chips of the bedding and the shirt is laid flat, there is water and chick starter 18% protein on the side because he is only a week old

Chick starter doesn't have the proper niacin requirements for ducklings. Preferably, you'll want to feed a flock raiser or duckling feed since that has proper niacin. Lack of niacin can cause lameness, etc. You can still use chick starter, but you need to add brewers, (better yet nutritional) yeast for added niacin, and sometimes Vitamin D complex as well if they don't do good on the brewers yeast.
I don't think the feed is causing the problem though. What are you using for heat? If using a heat lamp, does the brooder have a cool side that the babies can escape to? Do you have a picture of your setup?

i don't use a heat lamp because the weather is pretty hot in florida right now and usually i put a blanket over half of the bedding at times it moves under the blanket and other times stays on the open side of the bedding. i will get them niacin the set up is down below let me know the things i should add to the bedding
