Panting duckling

Hi All,
I have a duckling on my lap after they had a bath. They laid down after they finished preening and the one is panting constantly. Can anyone tell me why she's doing this? Thanks in advance for any answers.

@onaharley has a Pekin that has been panting too. They seem to get over heated easier than other breeds and grow so fast that may have something to do with it too.

Your lil one sure looks healthy clear eyes no congestion? are you giving them something deep enough they can dunk their heads in often to keep their nares clean?

Yup! Over heated I would say if no congestion is present. My male has been doing this way more then my females...I lower the temp in their brooder and lower the water temperature for bath time too...seems to help out more. Mine are almost 6 weeks old.

Hi All,
I was thinking over heating too but not sure. The Peking I think is 4 wks old the other is 5 wks and the Pekin is already bigger!

Try cutting down heat some and see if that helps.
