Panting, Enlarged stomach, what gives?

Birds pant for a number of reasons, not all related to a health disorder. Your baby duck could easily be suffering stress by being in a strange new place, and even if the dog doesn't bother them, they can stress from just seeing the strange animal.

Being transported from one place to another can also stress a bird. The temperature spread from the warm outdoors to indoor air conditioning can also stress. Best to keep the temperature extremes minimized. Even if it's hot, with plenty of water and shade, your ducklings may be better off remaining outside than brought into the air conditioning. It's stressful needing to constantly be adapting to temperature extremes.

So, if I respond to the thread I started, do I just copy the original post and past it before adding? Sorry...I’m slow with technology.

Ok sorry! U would be surprised what ive seen people keep there ducka in(while working with a few local animal sanctuaries) clearly you are not!

But as a side note its important to keep all animals mobile. Just like humans lack of mobility cause stiffness (try putting your finger in a splint keeping it straight for 2 days you're going to have a very tough time bending it)! Just a reference point. Not saying your doing it!!

Now looking at those videos I can't tell which your talking about they both look like very healthy Pekins. Beautiful too I might add.

Ducks have so many different kinds of poop from nothing but water to green from eating greens and everything in between . But Poop pics will help we have a poop expert here lol honest.
And if you don't mind them coming in for the night and sleeping then by all means keep doing that. They are out getting lots of fresh air and sunshine and swim time during the day so no reason to not let them come inside for the night. I think that is sweet. Your decision on when to put them out at night.

Here's another side note.. when you go to the hospital for XYZ reason they do tests on you, normally something that comes back a little funky. Then they could do more tests on you and something else will come back little funky and ultimately doesn't mean anything.

There's no exact way how body should work I saw on TV a lady who was 104 years old who drank Dr Pepper everyday and smoke cigarettes and she said the doctors told her to stop and she outlived three of her doctors.

When you have two ducks you tend to be overprotective kind of like how parents are with their first child. But as you get more and more ducks and raised more and more children you realize that they're going to do what they're going to do.

Ducks are super Hardy outside of a few ducks that have genetic issues such as the Crested duck they're going to be just fine!!

Overprotective mom at this point! Usually when something is wrong you will most likely know because the duck will tell you!! I have quite a few Ducks various breeds no two poo is to same. They have such a small body that they pass so frequently. Some grass will give them a certain poop mud will give him a certain food some feedwill give them a certain poop!!

You will be okay your Ducks will be alright!! They looked super happy they looked fine nothing to worry about!!

Thank you all so much! I think I might be a paranoid new duck mama. This helps. I will send pics of poo when I find the next pile and have the time to upload just to be sure. I sure appreciate all this wonderful advice. It’s so much to learn, but I just want to make sure I give these guys the best change for a happy life, and I don’t want to ignore warning signs I should’ve known about. Again, thank you all!!!
