So, if I respond to the thread I started, do I just copy the original post and past it before adding? Sorry...I’m slow with technology.Just a friendly word of advice - It helps to add to your original thread where all the background information lives so we have this information all in one place. If you feel the need to begin a new thread, a link to the other thread that has the background information is helpful.
Birds pant for a number of reasons, not all related to a health disorder. Your baby duck could easily be suffering stress by being in a strange new place, and even if the dog doesn't bother them, they can stress from just seeing the strange animal.
Being transported from one place to another can also stress a bird. The temperature spread from the warm outdoors to indoor air conditioning can also stress. Best to keep the temperature extremes minimized. Even if it's hot, with plenty of water and shade, your ducklings may be better off remaining outside than brought into the air conditioning. It's stressful needing to constantly be adapting to temperature extremes.
