I went in to check on my birds a few minutes ago and let them out to wander a bit more before dark and one of them is panting and salivating. the worst part of keeping chickens is watching them suffer while I try to figure out what is wrong. Has anyone had these symptoms in a chicken before? I am going to check on her behavior right now. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I don't think over heating is a possibility as it has been pretty cool here lately. it was 67 degrees here today. She isn't holding her wings out like I have seen them do when they are hot. The saliva surprised me. And there is a slight wetness around her nostrils. She is separated from the flock. I am worried that she may have eaten something poisonous to her.

I was getting dark when I went out to check on her again and she just wanted to go back in the coop. She seems to have normal energy.

She did not drink when separated with her own fresh food and water. Advice for electrolytes? Brand name?
