"Pants Chickens" Cochins, Brahmas, Langshans, some varieties of Marans and Faverolles

Ok, so I used to have four chickens(one died recently at a bit more than a year of who-knows-what-causes-still-trying-to-figure-it-out), and before we were thinking about getting a fifth and I was really wanting a pants chicken. However, I live in an area where the climate-well, in certain seasons, provides muddy ground and I was wondering if it wouldn't be very nice to bring a pants chicken into our family because it would get stuff stuck in its "pants", and it would not like that and spend time trying to get it out or something like that.

That's where Langshan excel! ;)

They do not have the heavy feathering that other breeds have. They do well in hot climates (100+ degrees) as well as cold. Because they lack the heavy feathering on their legs that Brahmas and Cochins have, mud is hardly a problem for them.

If you plan on showing them though, I would keep them in a grassy area as the mud can stain blue and white feathers.
