One of my girls laid an egg and it’s the oddest one I’ve gotten. The egg itself seems totally normal in the spots I can see the underlying eggshell. On top is a sort of coating - it’s dried & wrinkly and feels sort of like if someone coated the egg in wet paper and let it dry.
This egg took a while for her to lay- she laid it this morning, but showed signs of needing to lay (and an egg could be felt when doing a quick check to ensure it was just an egg) starting the day before.
I found a small piece of what looks like what was found on the egg before it dried - almost looks like extra membrane without any calcium or yolk.
She’s a Cayuga and silver appleyard cross just over a year old.
