Hey there! Any parakeet experts here? I recently got two parakeets, Kiwi and Mango, and have zero experience with parakeets so I don't know what their genders are. Kiwi(green) is about 8 months old and Mango(yellow/lutino) is 9-10 months.
A little more info about Kiwi and Mango, if it helps to distinguish gender: Kiwi is extremely playful and hyper, always chewing on things, dancing and head bobbing, whistling chirping, and battling with the bells and toys in his cage and very outgoing and curious. And he looooooves playing and dancing with his reflection in the mirror. I can't really say much about Mango because I only just got him/her today, but so far it's been very quiet and thoughtful. Although, I remember Kiwi being like this when I first brought him home too, so I can't really say. When I introduced Mango to Kiwi, he immediately went up to the new bird and started bobbing up and down and chirping, and having a little beak battle. Mango flew around the room and Kiwi followed him/her, nipping at the tail and looked like he was trying to preen the back feathers. But I really don't know much about budgies so I don't know if this is good or bad behavior. They seem to be getting along really well, though. Kiwi seemed territorial over his toys/food at first, but now he has no problem with Mango being there.
