Parakeet grit ok for chicks?

I picked up my 1 week old chicks today. The local feed store did not have baby grit. But the local pet store had Hi-Cal Grit for Finches & Parakeets. Is this ok to give chicks this?

Yes it is, I use chick grit but parakeet is just as fine or even better from what I hear

Since you already have that grit I would use it if you need to offer grit. Next time I would look for plain grit though. The Hi-Cal stands for calcium and alot of calcium is not good the little ones. They're already getting the amount of calcium they need in their chick starter.

Most parakeet grit I looked at had added calcium which isn't good for them. I use sand for my chicks.
