Hello everyone

Just joined today and need some insight. My little Allie soon to be 2 months old
has Paramyxo virus. Did some reading on it and doesn't appear to be much hope.
She is curently taking herbal meds to maintain the virus. Has a great appetite and
is constantly trying to keep her head up. Monday she had such a great day was alert
held her head up most of the day ate eating grass and even took a few steps, spread her
wings and then the crash landing....but that's my girl Allie she's got plenty of spirit.

Anyhow, any of you experienced tis virus, any words of wisdom, advise. Some people think I'm cruel not putting her down but as long as I see she is fighting I won't give up.

Thanks

I've never heard of that virus. Hope she gets better.

Thanks for the good wishes, the symptons are very close to wry neck, but my vet treated her for that and there was no improvement so we sent blood to the lab.

We don't sell the eggs, have plenty of relatives and friends that do the eating!

If I am reading right, this is the virus that causes Newcastle Disease. I understand you not wanting to put her down but, in the meantime, she is putting the rest of your flock at risk. Newcastle is a contagious disease that will spread to the rest of your flock. I haven't read alot about it. I am going to do some more research...the kind thing would be to euthanize her as there is no cure.

Also, if you are planning on getting any more birds, I would have them vaccinated for Newcastle.
