Soo i was wondering if its possible to keep pareekeets outside in the winter? We are located in middle tn. It get around 15 here sometimes in the winter and 95 i the summer. They would be lept in an aviary with warm wooden boxes with straw. Thanks.

I don't think they will do well with temperatures below 50-60 degrees. I take mine out in the spring after temperatures stay above 60 and they go back in when temperatures fall below 60. Parakeets don't sleep in nest, and they don't sleep in straw. They are native to Australia.

I don’t have parakeets but From what I’ve read about them, I don’t think letting them in the cold is a good idea. If ur going to keep them then at least bring them inside where it’s a bit colder. :)

I have known a couple of parakeet breeders that have a building outside, and they have an outside flight aviary attached where they can go in and out on their own, and then they use a small space heater in the building in the coldest of winter

Im in ny my birds live out in flights in the summer and winter I bring them in a shed inside a cabinet cage they can survive in the temps here but adding boxes they wont use unless they are breeding and its the drafts that would kill them With the set up I have I already lost 3 in January so its not really worth it
