Parenthood Thread

I missed this notification, sorry!

We are preparing the nursery, yes! We got the one dark green accent wall painted a couple of weeks ago, and we are actually going to rip out the 22+ y/o carpet and replace it with vinyl planks. Some kind friends from our church gave us a crib, dresser/changing table, and monitoring system so I've just got to clean those up and we can get it all in there as soon as the floor is done. And once that's all in, I'm going to start washing baby clothes. :D Hopefully all before November.
Another friend from church said she was going to start talking to the ladies about planning my baby shower, so yes, I should be having one!

I grew up in the west central area in the country. I loved it quite a lot.
How exciting! And you're so lucky to have gotten so much stuff already from church friends! It really does add up, so get anything secondhand (except carseat of course) that you can. We did, and saved so much money! We made a beautiful nursery and dress our baby in such cute clothes, but all on the cheap because it's mostly secondhand. :)

Enjoy this time!

Everyone at our church is having babies at the moment, so we were really fortunate to get those things from our friends for sure. This is the first grandbaby for both sides, and my MIL has been having a lot of fun finding cute clothes. 😁 I'm sure more spoiling will come from other relatives soon, too!
I might be a bit stingy when it comes to materials used in baby stuff, so we honestly haven't been to second hand stores for baby stuff. 😅 I would like to look at some point, though! We found a GORGEOUS heirloom quality rocking horse from a Goodwill for $15. Still needs cleaned up, but we've got time.

That's great! You're lucky to have such a good support system :)

A story from ling-ago Reader's Digest: mom looking out the front door at dad playing football with the kids on the front lawn: "Honey, y'all are killing the grass!" Husband responds, " It's okay, Babe, I'm not raising grass, I'm raising kids!"

This is a great thread! We welcomed number 4 in June, and had 4 under 4 for a couple months since our oldest was still only 3 when baby number 4 joined the party!

I love my children with all my heart. Everyday I thank God that He trusted us to raise them. Raising them in a loving home is the crowning jewel of my life; it’s my purpose and the great work I know I’ve been called to do! It’s not easy and heaven knows those kids are good at pushing my buttons, but my life would be a shadow without them and my husband. ♥️

This seems like such great advice! Thank you! :) I'm only 3 months into my motherhood journey, but I have already found a lot of this to be true. My standards for keeping the house clean, looking good, etc. have had to slip a little and it's hard to deal with. Thank for for reminding me that that is mostly temporary!
Congratulations!!! So glad you find it useful. I promise you will discover a new normal. You'll learn to juggle everything and everybody eventually. Right now you are prioritising new life. A life that you made and grew and that is far more important than a few dog hairs on the rugs. It will get easier. Love to you and your family.

That is so nice of you! It really does help. :)

In your opinion, what is the most difficult age child to parent?
