Parents of big families...I need GOOD come backs for idiots!

Our next door neighbors when they first moved in, told us that there were too many children in the world but that if they did have children they would adopt.

The wife is half Korean so they adopted two boys from Korea. My youngest two love to play with them, but I can't help but feel they look down on us because we have seven.

I am the oldest of 8 kids. My mom got all kinds of comments. Someone asked her if she had a TV. She responded "Yes! And the commercials are great!" They also asked her if she knew what causes that and she said "Well if you have to ask, I'd be happy to share."

I have two small boys and people are always asking me if we are going to have more. That's annoying too. I tell them "No, I like the two I have and wouldn't want to chance it with any more."

We were married a year before we got pregnant. People were always asking when we were going to have kids and it was a frustrating time because we were trying without success. I finally started telling people "We can't have kids, thanks for asking." That curbed it really fast.

Congratulations on your new addition!

I have to tell you - I have one child by choice. I wanted it that way and that's the way it is. But when I see large families in stores or malls, I just have to smile, and sometimes laugh out loud at their combined antics, parents included. Large families are a blessing! And a crack up!

After our marriage, when she didn't get pregnant the first two weeks she cried. Think she wanted to have kids?

Ah, don't feel bad, hon. NO ONE knew until last week. Not even the kids, my family, work, etc.

I figured since I was starting to show, it might be a good idea to spill the beans before they figured it out on their own.

Well I figured since one of your children shared my name, ya know..... LOL, totally kidding with you! Obviously WE were going to be the first to know! lol.

I kinda figure once your belly gets big, the kids will wonder what's going on. My cousin is due in January and she walked in today and my dad told her to stop hiding the turkey in her shirt.

Anyways, Congratulations! Im very happy for you and the family, I hope everything goes well.

I love the Dugger family they are so organized and loving I only have the one daughter and when I see a big family I get a little sad thinking I should have had more.
She tells me now that I'm getting older she wishes she had siblings to help her out when I get really old.

I'm all for big families, but (imo) the Duggar's are whacked. It seems like the mother 'replaces' the recent 1 year old with a pregnancy every year.

Goodness, I must be getting old... since when is five children considered a big family? My parents had five children, plus foster children now and then.

My son and his wife have 12 children, ages 13 and under, with a set of twins in there. Seven of the children are adopted. That is a large family IMO. But four or five cihldren seems like a "normal" amount for a family.

The more children you have, the better your chances of getting along with one or two of them when they become adults.

Did I really say that?
