Parrot Chat

Pics
I have parrots, finches and somehow time to post so I guess I'll be joining this chat.

I have two cockatiels who are just the cutest, two budgies and a bourke's parrot. I also have a breeding pair of princess parrots. The cockatiels and budgies are tame, the bourkie not yet but I'm working on him. The princess parrots are semi tame as they fly onto you when you enter their aviary (because they're after treats). They all live outside in aviaries. I also live half my life in the aviaries. I will try and post some pictures tomorrow.

I can't wait!

I know right!? I keep thinking why did I never think of that
All my budgies always liked spinning around on their perches. That wheel looks like hours of entertainment for them.:p

I love the aviary. .but I wonder how hard it will be to clean that wood? Think it could be varnished or something to help with cleaning purposes?

I thought about the wood getting dirtied, but I figure I could use an ice scraper or something, and if I don’t put anything on it, I can always use a little sandpaper for really ugly messes?

Here are my little guys.

This is Gabriel, My bourke's parrot. I will try and get a better photo later, I'm still taming him so it's hard to get close with a camera.

I'm keeping all my parrots flighted so I can flight train them and because they are so beautiful when in flight.

Luna has been molting just a couple of feathers around her head and neck, not what I would think of as a full juvenile molt. But, the new feathers have come back in with pearling. Not sure if I can take this as a sign of her gender or not. I dunno if she would keep the pearling until the juvenile molt when growing in new feathers, or if all new feathers after the first would lose the pearling if she was male.

Baby males will griw new pearl feathers if they lose them. The feathers lose the marking once they becone sexually mature and even then it may take 2 or more molts to go all gray.

Earlier this week we noticed Moses had his leg sticking out to the side.

We took him to the vet who said it was broken and it couldn't be corrected but it would heat like that. Sadly he passed away yesterday morning. I think Aaron is missing him though.
