Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of my partidge chantelcer at 14 weeks. Don't see many pictures of them.

She is a beauty, and her feather coloring is just stunning (IMO).

I got her because I live in Montana where the first frost could be less than a month away and I wanted hearty girls.

As you can see she has "nothing" to frostbite. She is a great forager. We have lots of grasshoppers and she is out there getting as many as she can.

She is not as people friendly as my other ladies, but I knew that was a likely possibility going in. But she is not skittish either, just prefers not to be picked up, though not nuts at all if you pick her up.

I don't think would want a whole flock of them b/c I like that people friendly aspect, don't think I would be without one either.

Who else has this breed? Lets see them and hear your experiences.

PS - She came sexed from Ideal

I have some buff chanteclers that are about 2 mos old and some partridge that are like 6 wks

They seem to be a curious bird and i am enjoying them haven't figured out the boys and girls yet, did get one that has a totally incorrect comb so it will be culled.

I was hoping to get some this year but it didn't pan out. I may get some next year (got buckeyes and some GLWs which were my substitution for the chanteclers) unless my husband talks me into dark cornish, he likes the looks of those.

Where did you guys get yours?

I have one pullet, she is very pretty and reserved. I got her as a "freebie" from the heritage breeder my Delaware and Sussex came from. I didn't know what she was until now

The buff ones I got from Sandhill, my partridge I got from Ideal, I got some red ones also but the color is not very good, so I will not be keeping any of those
