I'm fairly new to BYC - (Love it here by the way!) ... We've got about 54 laying hens, some Rhode Isand Reds and some are Partridge Rocks. We noticed yesterday that one of the PR's seems out of sorts. She's all puffed up like she's cold, although the house is not cold. She seems to stay by herself. She is moving around - not sure if she's eating or not as we just noticed this behaviour. We are going to isolate her so we can see what she is and isn't doing, but wondered if any of you experts had any advice. Thanks in advance Patti
Need more info to be able to help you. Isolate is good...you can give vitamins [like save-a-chick] or electrolytes, high energy foods to start. Check her tummy for possible egg bound...TONS of info on BYC for checking this... keep us posted...
