Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Can we see some pics? I do believe that if they came from regular partridge they don't carry the silver partridge gene. It's so hard to tell at this age because they change so much. Sonoran would be better at handling the silver partridge thing, but I THINK that's probably right... No quotes please.

Thank you! I won't hold you to it.

The chick light makes it look brown but it's really dark charcoal. I purchased eggs on line so don't know the history. The egg was marked partridge.

Are you talking about the one in front? It looks like normal partridge. There are many different shades and in most partridge there is a variance to the color even as adults. Can you do a picture with that one and any other of your partridge babies?

I don't know why the one day photo didn't work but here is one I just took of two of them. The one on the left is the one I'm wondering about. It still looks browner that it really is.

Sorry, Penney, I'm quoting you

Silver and gold are two alleles of the same gene. Silver is incompletely dominant, and the gene is sex-linked, meaning that the boys have two copies, the girls only one. Boys are either silver (S/S), golden (S/s+) or gold (s+/s+); girls are either silver (S/-) or gold (s+/-).

Partridge should be gold, greys should be silver; although you will occasionally find someone using a golden male for either, and if they know what they are doing, it can work.

Grey and silver partridge are pretty much the same thing.

The pattern gene (Pg/Pg), in conjunction with an e^b (brown or asiatic partridge) base creates the penciling that gives partridge and grey their penciling pattern.
So, partridge should be e^b/e^b s+/s+ Pg/Pg; grey should be e^b/e^b S/S (or S/-) Pg/Pg Other genes can affect the appearance and pattern as well.

No, I think it's just a different shade and will be a regular partridge.
It's so AWFUL that they take so long to grow up!!! LOL
