Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

well sence hard feather are a fault and his color dosent quight meet standard it might be best find diffrent male not saying u have to or that he wouldnt make u some nice babies but he realy red

Yes, kind of what I was thinking too. His crest could be fuller for my liking as well. This is my first go round with Silkies, so I'm learning as I go. I initially hatched 7 Partridge marked chicks. Two of them turned a solid dark blue? Then this one cockerel that's turning red. The other 4 are nicely marked and very typey, although one of the pullets has a somewhat faded coloring, but it's still obviously Partridge.

Yes, I remember reading that. It's just personally, I myself don't care for the looks of it.

Yes, they all looked like little chipmunks when hatched, and up until around 2 weeks or so. One of the now dark blues is very nice, the other is pet quality, not enough crest for me. I expect that somewhere down the road, the blue ones will start to show some brownish hackle feathers? Right now, they are as dark as my real blues, so dark they almost look black. Yes, I was very pleased with how the majority of these are turning out. It's about time I got lucky, my other breed is not doing as well.

Well, so far, no one is going anywhere. Trying to thin out the flocks before winter hits, and around here, NO ONE is buying chickens! I only want to keep the best of them so that I have a better chance of getting better as I breed forward. I'm pretty sure the pet one is a cockerel, he seems to do some frequent mini-spars with the white cockerel. Those are the only two trouble makers in the bunch, the rest are pretty laid back and peaceful...thankfully!
