Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

has anyone every had a black chick grow up to have black feathers with silver mixed in? The parents produce grey and black but I just noticed that one of my blacks has silver penciling, thanks for any information

Yes if the bird is black with silver hackles and even some silver in the wing area - its just called a black with silver leakage. This is not desirable in a black bird, and since your 2 black birds are throwing grey offspring they both carry the silver gene and probably came out of a grey bird possibly.

my neighbor has one and i'm trying to buy it from him. iv' already got a buff silkie. What is the max you would pay for him. he's about 3 years old and was a blue ribbon rooster he bought at a fair.

its so hard to say. A fair and a sanctioned poultry show are 2 different things. What wins a blue ribbon at a fair may get disqualified at a sanctioned show....Also without a picture we couldn't say if the bird was worth 5$ or 200$
