Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

When I went to get my 5 month silkies 4 days ago I had decided to get 2 hens, lucky for me my breeder had 2 partridges, there what is a barred Plymouth Rock in the silky pen, the breeder told us that she didn't like being with the other barred rocks so she kept flying over to the silkies and eventually he left her there she was the smallest of the flock in the barred rocks so that was probably why she had some troubles and we thought it was so cute that she was hanging out with the silkies so we took her too figuring that she would be happy with her silkie girls
How sweet of you to take the Rock as well so she could stay with her friends

Here is the hen I brought inside to brood.
Would she be considered a blue partridge?
She is so light in color, but has that grey-ish on her head.and sort of sprinkled throughout.

I would supervise the first couple of visits with the roo. See if it upsets your hen when he comes near. I have had 4 broodies and never once had to worry about the hen or the baby chicks. Mine get really protective. I think when all their hormones are up from being broody they also open up a never-ending can of whoopbutt. I actually fear for the safety of the flock instead.

Thanks so much the Rock actually was happy to be carried off in my son's arms. I can't believe how happy she is with her girls. I love these birds I had to make a few modifications to the coop so that it accomidated everyone!

Good news for the partridge silkies! My partridge silkie hen won Ch. Feather leg at West Central Ohio Poultry show March 9th, 2013! I also had my multiple top winning white silkie hen entered and the partridge hen beat her and my other good white hen. Whether you like this bird or not, it is a good thing for the partridge variety in general.

Congratulations on your wins! I saw the post over on FaceBook and showed it to my daughter, Lindsey who loves partridge. We just got our first flock of partridges shipped to us this week, 4 gals and a gorgeous rooster. We hope to start breeding beautiful birds like yours.
