Your cockerel looks like some I've gotten from black/lav splits too. I know they say you should get black, but I've hatched very few that are solid black. The cockerels usually have leakage in their hackles and hens are often the "silver partridge" color this cockerel is showing, with or without the red leakage. I don't know if it's coming from the black or the lav parent, but perhaps both. My guess is that a lot of lavs are carrying hidden color genes because of their early crosses to white.
