Ok so I am new to silkies and am working on getting my partridge pen all set. I have a very nice partridge roo and just a couple of partridge hens. So I am grappling with whether or not to keep a couple of hens that are not the best. Crests are good, toe spacing and number Ok, type is good to Ok, but one has a wry tail, one has a single comb, and one has a couple of white tips on a couple of her toes and toenails. Now if I keep these girls will I be making a mistake? As I get better girls I have been selling the not as nice girls. If I grow out and keep some of these hens chicks and sell the single combed ones will I be introducing something that I will regret later down the line? By the end of next year I do not see myself having these hens anymore as I am growing up some nice young ones now. Its just this first year with extablishing a breeding pen.
