Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I love the color and will probably keep few of them. It's similar to the isabel color which is 2 copies of lavender over buff. Generally people call it porcelain in silkies.

I think I like the stronger pigmentation that you see in the lavender partridge.

On another note. I need to see if I can get a picture of some of my hens that resulted from crossing in a totally unrelated hen. They almost look more buff, but have given me some great chicks that are normal partridge. I wasn't actually going for hatching that hen's eggs and separated them out of batches for the longest time as she lays a bit lighter of an egg. When I hatched one just to see if I could get a daughter that was as good of a broody I was shocked how the pullet grew up. The mother isn't very fluffy and had a pathetic excuse for a crest. Her descendants have been my fluffiest birds with the biggest crests. She is the friendliest chicken I'd ever seen to that point. That temperament passed on pretty well too. I have a son and great grandson who are stalkers for attention and they were never handled really as chicks.

Tripping over silkies is a real risk for me as they just have to get near me. The only bird in the silkie pens that doesn't rush me is the species confused quail. He showed up a year ago and decided he was a silkie.

More updated photos of two of my partridges!

Tiramisu:
7 weeks old, I seriously hope this chick is female or I'll be disappointed :fl
The white chick is also a keeper if it's female, they both have the same father.

Vanta:
6 weeks old, I'm still amazed by how light coloured he is. I'm pretty sure Vanta is a male so he will be sold on eventually.

I no longer have Vanta the super light little partridge that appeared to be a Cockerel. I managed to find him a home!

My sister bought my other gold partridge Wotsit off me so she's looking after her now and she's turning out half decent.

On the other hand...here's Tiramisu now!

She's 8 weeks old and I'm still seriously hoping she is a female. I had intentions of just having her as a nice pet quality Silkie but she's turning out quite nice for showing so far.

I just love the colour so much :celebrate

What are other people's thoughts on her?

I can never tell before at least 6 months if they will have the right stance and body shape. She's coming along well right now.

I just love how my silkies follow me around. So different than my ameraucana with how they act and react.
