I've read that here a few times and kept my mouth shut. No. Lavender has nothing to do with blue partridge.

One copy of lavender would have no effect on the black pigment. Two copies of lavender would dilute both black and red pigment and create a lavendar partridge. Pretty, but not at all the same thing.

Thank you so much Sonoran...I just look at the little guy and because is so silvery as opposed the beigy background was not sure but I will take acloser looksee at that birdie.

As to the double recessive white...how often will this come up with them giving me a white chick? Will the white chick breed true white or throw partridges if with a white or partridge roo respectively. This is fascinating sorry if I am being a pest but I am learning.

This is why we want you around.

Bred to another recessive white, it will throw whites. Bred to a partridge, it should throw partridge, unless that partridge carries a hidden copy of recessive white, in which case you will get about 50% of each.

Of the two parents, about 25% of their offspring should be white. But if you have additional hens plus the cock, and only the one hen carries a copy of white, the percentages will appear to be much lower since you are also getting eggs from the non-white carrying hens.

Okay I have the opposite I have a partridge from an all white pen....not that it bothered me as I am doing partridge and the more the merrier...lol...so do you use blue over partridge to improve the blue ?????? and would you use a really dark blue or a lighter blue....I have a mess of blues thats why I am inquiring....perhaps I need to sell some....Pennie you need to save space for this grey I have and its a Catdance...Chris

I'm sure that I have room. Maybe we can swap for a younger partridge pullet that is growing out now.

From what I have heard it sounds like there is... But I'm not the 1 to ask. My first show is WI Nationals and second is Crossroads. Nothing like starting at the top - right?
