Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

This is supposed to be a partridge thread, but we do get a little sidetracked on occasion. Yes, there are salmon Silkies. I want a pair so bad I can taste it!!! Oops, maybe I shouldn't say "taste" when we are talking about chickens!!

Getting back to Partridge. I sorta got a picture of one of my girls! LOL

How old is she? She looks young, either that or she's molting.

She looks good other than fluff everywhere; but that's what you want if you can get it under control. LOL!!

She is about 6 months I believe. I wasn't sure if it could have been the roos doing it to her or not? They seem to like her alot, the poor girl!

Jen's girl came from your porcelain project. I hatched the eggs out in December and ended up with 2 pretty girls and a boy with that coloring.

Jen has both girls now. They're so gorgeous!!! Wish I didn't sell them to her!

WOW, she is a knock out. She makes me think of chocolate, but I don't think that is right. She looks more then just blue partridge.

I know that partridge can be really variable. As in some birds are extremely dark or light or anywhere in between. My partridges are from hadden/hattrick lines and I have been noticing chicks hatching that look different from one another. Not a different color just different shades of partridge. I have some chicks hatch with a relatively light cheast and several lately with a much much darker cheast. I'm simply wondering if anyone has been able to tell if the ones that grow to have a really good dark cheast had a noticably darker cheast as a chick. My birds are good but its been hard to get that really dark cheast on the roos. Just curious. Thanks.

Hi Ahn - that's why the color looked so familiar! I'm putting my three girls into the partridge pen shortly - they are so nice and typey & will be so interesting to see what they produce when crossed with the partridge roo. I've never gotten a cockerel with that coloring though. One of my girls looks just like Jen's, the other two are almost a chocolate color with orange penciling - very pretty.
