Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I would think putting a hole in the egg would have messed up the hatch rate either by too much humidity getting into the egg or vapor locking the chicks. They are tougher than I thought, and I have been babying mine. They are tough little boogers!

Jen, how do you always manage to have such beautiful crests on your boys? They are just awesome. The old afro look. LOL. The only thing I could fault him on would be the tail feathers. He seems to have a lot of hard feathers and not enough fluff. I love his color. Very stunning. Did you say he was a this years boy?

I think the pullet has way too much buff in her. She's an interesting color but not to standard.
Here is the thread that everyone should study over and over and over again (I wish they had pictures).
I always tend to look at color first and the rest of the Silkie second. That is the wrong thing to do. Look at how the chicken is put together and go from there.

I'm just glad that I am not the only one that has that problem, except my partridge roo has no tail feathers. Satan chases him around and has pulled everyone but 1 out... I have the only rumpless Silkie in history!!

My really dark partridge boys have more hard feathers, but the rest of the guys are nothing but fluff and look gorgeous but I don't care for their color as much. Have to do some cross breeding next year with them and the girls. The dark boys are George M.& Connie B. x Bobbi Porto. The light boys are G.M. x Connie B. so the lines will stay in the lines.

This my new boy from Premier. I will get him in the fall. He is replacing the roo that I have now with the red/gold neck.
