If it was cooler I would be happy to sell you a pair but with this heat no way they would make it!

I appreciate your honesty. That's why I'm here asking! And thank you for the offer, it is scorching hot here right now.

I agree he is not the correct color.
Here is a pic of one of my boys to help you. He was younger in this pic about 4 months old.

I would not use that boy, unless you do not care about quality. Jen has a gorgeous boy, take a look at her website. That will give you an idea of what to look for.

I don't want to sound nasty, but I do not want anyone else to either. She asked for a ctiique not just flat comments without any basis for them.
You are right, his color is off, but there are other issues. Let's just say his faults far outway his good qualities. God, I really hate to sound like this, but their really aren't too many good points about him. You really need to go online or look through this website. There are pictures of very nice partridge Silkies. I agree with Elite in saying not to use him because I don't think you would be happy with the results. If you are like all of the other Silkie people, you are going to get addicted and want the best that you can possibly get. Do some research and I know that you will find a very nice boy... Good luck.

I appreciate your comments, all of them. I will pass on this guy.

I may have another opportunity for a pair, which would be awesome!

You will be seeing me on this thread, I am so hooked!

I apologize, I did not intend to come across as being harsh. If your intentions are to become a Silkie breeder, I would highly recommend purchasing the best pair that you can find. As a silkie breeder, I started with lesser quality because I was uneducated when it came to silkies. As I educated myself, it became apparent that I must start all over and focus on the quality. It does not cost more to start with nice quality birds, but it cheaper in the long run. It takes years to improve a pet quality bird.

My opinion of the boy is, that is coloring is very off compared to a Partridge. I am unsure that I would even classify him as a partridge, maybe a red or dark buff instead. His tail is lacking fullness and appears to have hard feathering. From what I can see, he is also lacking in foot feathering and crest. I do not see anything on this bird, that I would consider a good quality. You will be much happier if you wait until a good prospect comes along.
