Thank you. I am passing on this guy. I don't want to be a "breeder", but do want a good pair for my own flock.

I have found a pair that I am very excited about. Will share more later, should be able to pick them up this week.

Boy, do I need to proofread my writing before I submit it

It "does" cost more to start with nice quality birds, but "is" cheaper in the long run. Okay, I better stop typing now, while I'm ahead.

Be sure and send up pics, congrats.

He looks good, that comb is still lookin' nice and dark. I hope it stays that way. The girls look like they came from Holly, I don't have her any more.

Well, here are my new girls, they certainly don't look like everyone elses, but I have hope that once they molt their feathers will come back with avengance!!

MY DH and I picked them up a week and a half ago from a breeder who had too many, they said their feathers were pulled out by other chickens due to close quarters and their wings have been clipped

Does anyone know if once they molt they will look better? (I actually don't care much, I just feel sorry for the poor girls, they certainly have character and are a hoot!!)

They should look beautiful again in a few months (especially after they molt). You may want to check for mites also. If they were kept in that close of quarters that is a real possibility. Where ever you got them from must not have known much about Silkies because they don't fly so they didn't need their wings clipped. Poor little things. Give them lots of love and hugs and a good bath.
