Yeah, she's just a miserable b^t&c)!!!!! If you pick her up and put her down, she just sets in that exact spot.
More bad news.... Lost a chick yesterday - 1 of my 5 white ones. I'm almost positve it was the heat. This has just been 1 bad year as far as weather. We went from super cold to super hot.

Our weather hasn't been unusually hot, but in Phoenix 118 in July isn't unusual. I did have a heat incident in June. My BO was completely out when I found her. With a lot of patience, electrolytes, and TLC, I was able to save her and she is back out with the rest of the flock, after about a month in the chicken hospital.

I have misters, complete shade for them, water pans for standing in and fans. Even considered adding AC to the coop, but they seem to have acclimated and although they do get hot, they are doing fine now.

I hope you all get some relief soon from your extreme, and unusual heat.

The humidity makes it so much worse. It gets hard to breathe when it is that hot and the humidity is high. I just checked and it the humidity was 97% here yesterday with the temp of 106!!!

Unreal!!! Now it is a bit better this morning at the humidity at 60%. Thank goodness!

You've got that right! Here in Missouri this morning, at 6:30am, it was already 78* with 88% humidity! I've lived in New Mexico and California, as well as Michigan, and Connecticut, but Missouri is by far the worst humidity yet! Dry heat is much nicer!

Dry heat doesn't cause diseases like humidity can. If it's humid and you get rain nothing has a chance to dry out and that creates fungus, mold and all kinds of different yucky stuff.

I've lived in places that get quite hot with a lot of humidity, and in places where it gets quite hot, and is quite dry. Once it gets over 110 degrees, its miserable whether it is humid or dry. My oven is a dry heat; doesn't mean it's comfortable. IMO, there is a vast difference in the feel of humidity and that of heat. All too often I hear people complaining about the heat, when it is actually the humidity they should be complaining about.

Back when I lived in Nebraska, my house had a dehumidifier. I'm wondering if something like that might actually be more cost effective for coops in humid climates than AC?

You know, I think you are right. There again you would be eliminating the mold and whatever other issues with diseases that come with humidity and being wet. KOODOS TO SUZE!!!!

My cousin moved a dry heat climate to Oklahoma, and she doesn't like it because she said it was hot where she lived but didn't sweat a lot. She sweats bad here in Oklahoma. I pour with sweat, and have always thought that humidity was the most problem and not actually the temperature. Humidity makes you miserable.

It sure does! I thought it would be better today but not really. It is 100 here and not sure what the humidity is right not but that feels up also. I pity the chickeys because they just don't get a break. I have been giving them frozen treats, spraying the areas down and 10 minutes later it is all back to the way it was before. I can only get one thing done at a time becasue it is just so darn hot. Lots of trips down to the barn these laast few days, just shorter trips!
