Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Ok So I went out yesterday and took a few pics of a blue partridge and a partridge. I tried to do it side by side but they were not cooperative. I was saving a lil pullet to do a pic with the ladies but wouldn't it figure she was takin by a hawk with one of my bantam polish

I like Alex. And she is a very beautiful bird. Is she going to CR?

I think Alex is the winner and yes she will be there.

I get up between 3 and 4 and get up during the night. My sleep pattern sucks. But no, you are not the only one up early.... I like it more in the summer than the winter however. I'm up before dawn and in bed by the time it gets dark..... Winter is just around the corner..... Are you going to CR? You should go. We are going to have a blast!!!

Hey,

As much as I'd love to go.......It's 830 miles from my house, 14 hours of driving one way, $175.00 for gas one way, and a min of probably $300.00 for hotels. Um well, I'm thinking probably not

Knowing my luck this would be a $1,000 trip by the time I got there showed and looked around b/c I know I can't go without bringing home a new chicky

Maybe next year I can convince a friend of mine in CT to take the trip with me. This way we could probably split the travel expense and share the driving. I'd love to go see you all!!

I mainly stick to the shows in New England and Love the Boston Poultry Show so that is on my agenda for November 2011.

Hello Partridgey People!

I have a couple of questions for those that breed towards the SOP.

1) I know a small amount of hard feathering is allowed in the wings and tails of the roos. How much is too much for the SOP, and how much is too much for you, personally??

2) Do these hard feathers sometimes molt out in the juvie or adult molt?

My guys are just 13 1/2 weeks old, but one boy in particular has what I consider too many hard feathers in his wings, and the two longest primaries aren't shredded either. Too early to cull for this fault now, or should I wait a bit more. Other than these feathers, he is a nice boy. I will try to get some pics today. Thanks. By the way, I am loving the Partridge color the best so far! Will probably be cutting down to only two color groups; Partridge and the BBS.

Thought I would post pics of the Partridge Hen Brody is showing this season. Here first show last week, and she went Best Of Breed.

She's been in the breeding pens, and now is making her debut as a show bird. I guess we'll have to come up with a name for her now! lol

WOW!

I personally think they are way to young to make any decisions on right now at 13 wks. I try to keep all my Juvies until the are at least 6 months of age before making any cull decisions aside from wrong toe number or wrong toe placement. You'd be amazed how much a silkie can change from 6 months of age to 9 months of age.

Best Wishes
