Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Kim (WWC) You have one handsome partridge boy! I see why you fell in love with the color.

And, I'm with "peepblessed"...send him out to California! LOL No, I hope he sires you some beautiful little babies. How old is his "wife" and what is her name?

Peepblessed-I just looked up your ranch. Wow, you have a piece of heaven on earth there! One of my best friends just moved to Tehachapi, not too far from you. I think Sacramento is about 4 hours north of the Twin Oaks area but if I ever visit my friend I might have to stop in and check out the ranch facilities for a church getaway...(Like I have any say in the matter-hehe!) Do you host couples retreats and plain old "camping groups"?

Her head was so fluffy we had to cut her feathers way up so she could see.

Oh, I'm so sorry you lost your girl! "Princess Di" is my only partridge and she was barely 4 months in this photo. Yes, I have to keep her trimmed so she can see.

I would lean toward male.

Do you think he is a male or female?

I have been told I need an SOP partridge hen to breed to a blue/porcelain roo. I have read the SOP rules many times, but I am just not getting it. Is there anyone on here that has a pic to post of what one would look like?

For what? What would you hope to get if you breed a partridge to a porcelain?

With partridge its a good accurate thought that to get SOP girls and boys you need two lines

the black chest of the 'Standard' Male in the partridge tends to make a blacker hen where the SOP calls for a chestnut (reddish brown) body and head - but when you breed for the good hens you tend to lose the black chests in the males and come up with more redder/ginger males. It just seems to be a balancing act.

Hello, I have been told that my little one is a partridge. I'm not sure though if my little darling is male or female.

His/Her name is Satay and is 14 weeks old.

It is a partridge, but he does lack the typically features of the partridge. - the darker belly/chest, darker wings, and lighter hackle area with penciling. - I have a young cockerel who looks very similar to this guy. And yes it is definitely a boy.
