Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Oooh, I've never considered the beak in determining gender of my silkies. I think I'll run outside and check out some "beaks"!!

But, first I have a question about 1 of my recent hatchlings. These chicks were from BBS breeding pens, but it had the chipmunk stripes and eyeliner early on. And, still has "brown" feathering and some penciling. I would like opinions on whether or not it is partridge or if something else.

Fluffy from baby pictures to more current: Front/Right chick @ a week old

Fluffy at a couple weeks old sleeping in the silkie pile (center) Sorry it's so blurry:

Fluffy at about 4 weeks old showing back feathering:

Fluffy @ about 6 weeks old. Huge feathering around head & acts like a girl, but the beak is round?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I could try to get more photos if needed. Thanks so much

Indeed this one chick with chipmunk is a partridge (maby blue partridge, a little unclear to see on the photo). Partridges have the ground pattern "eb/eb". BBS have ground pattern "E/E" or "E/eb" wich explain that from a cross E/eb X E/eb will be born 25% E/E and 50% E/eb and 25% eb/eb.

Cali I think you have a blue partridge

or possibly a leaky blue BUT going by the fact it was partridge/chipmunk marked as a chick I'd classify it as a blue partridge
Wow-thank you! A Blue Partridge makes sense. What does leaky blue mean?

These are pictures of the same chick just as it aged. Also, if I'm working toward a BBS breeding project should I exclude this chick from it? (I love all the genetics lingo, but its way over my head-LOL) We'll probably keep it one way or the other because it is so sweet, quiet (a little shy) but loves to be cuddled and fall asleep in your lap.

Here is a picture that I just took today showing the huge top knot its developing.

There are 5 basic ground-patterns. E/E is one of them which is the "pure" ground-pattern for BBS. when you breed them "unpure" E/eb (along with other enhancers/restictors) you become the leakages of gold or Silver. Breeding projects are all about breeding "pure", so you have to make the choice.
