Passive Breed of Rooster?

Brahma roosters are very friendly. As it was already said: larger and heavier breeds are generally more docile. Leghorns are evil do not get one. Pretty much all Meditteranean breeds are mean.

ok, so i should be fine with this guy- he is like a puppy... very friendly and loves to cuddle...

he has always been outgoing, the other BA will really complain at being handled....

My serama roosters are SOO sweet.

My dark brahma roo is an excellent roo. Very protective of the girls and very respectful of his humans.
However, I babied my other brahma roo and he was a brat.
IMO, roos aren't meant to be babied and loved on. Love on your hens. Feed, water and provide housing for your roo and let him be a roo.

I'm not sure you can generalize about this subject. I don't want a passive rooster, but every rooster here on my place must be non-human-aggressive. I have three Barred Rock roosters, all brothers, all calm, friendly, sweet and easy to handle. My humongous Blue Orp rooster, Suede, is the same way. It's as much an individual thing as it is a breed thing.

I think you got what i have been trying to figure out- i don't want an attack rooster- thanks for that good point- respect is what is important- so he doesn't run over us...

Absolutely. My roosters don't have to be cuddly, they just have to respect us as their caretakers.

I have one little seabright x mille fleur rooster- I have to snatch him out every once in a while to teach him a lesson. He's a beautiful little thing , but plain hateful. My black lf Cochin is very sweet and laid back. My little mutt ee banty rooster is the perfect little gentlemen. I can pick him up and scratch him and pet him anytime and he doesn't mind. I have two little seramas , they were never handled and since I got them they are flighty and jumpy but not mean at all. They are starting to calm down a little now . I've had a Rir that was mean , but some others that weren't. I've never had a leghorn Rooster that WASN"T mean, but I've seen people on here who have some that are just big pets. I guess roosters are just like people- no two alike!!
