we just got 8 chicks about 2 hours ago, and i think that a few of them have pasty but. what should we do?
Thanks!

Use a warm wet paper towel and clean it off. If that doesn't work, I run warm water on its butt. You have to keep all their butts clean or they won't survive. Also make sure they are dried well after that.

I would clean their butts with warm water and then put a 1/4 tablespoon of vinegar per quart( i used apple vinegar to change the color of water..but regular vinegar and food coloring would work) for a few days, worked like a charm for me and make sure they are not getting to hot which also can cause pasty butt.

Aside from cleaning their little fuzzy butts, you can also apply a small amount of olive oil to their vent fluff to keep the poop from sticking. You can also very carefully trim the fluff so there's nothing for the poop to stick to. Keep an eye on them, and good luck!
