Pasty Butt...how to keep other chicks from pecking?

One of my new babies (hatched 10-30) started getting pasty butt. Well I washed off her little bottom (sitz bath in a tiny bowl) and then put evoo on it (I'll pick up vaseline later but had evoo on hand) I thought nothing of it and put the baby back with it's sibblings. They started pecking at it's bottom  I quickly took it out and am snuggling with it to keep it warm.

But my question is....how to keep other chicks from pecking? Or will this one have to stay seperated? Theres a wet spot the size of a quarter on its bottom...when it dries more would it be okay?

Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

I would keep it separated until the wet spot dries and then put the chick back. You might also try giving them something different to peck at when you put him back in, like maybe something they haven't seen before, little peices of grass or something like that to take their attention off of the chick. That is what I would do anyway.

If you have room in the brooder you can put her in a small box and then put the box in the brooder to keep her warm and separated. Hopefully, once she is dry they will leave her alone.

Just try every once in a while if the others accept her again. If they don't you might have to keep her separated for longer and then the others will probably never leave her alone :-(
Hope everything goes well!
