pasty butt is a pain in the butt, have questions

Thx. Actually only had to rewash bottoms of 2 the next day after the initial treatments of 13 chicks. I'd put Vaseline on their bottoms and added 1tbsp of ACV (Bragg's) to 1qt of water which I continue to do but now at 1Tbsp to 1gal. Worked like a charm. No issues and all growing like weeds!

Do either of you have any advice on a chick with pasty butt. A momma hen is raising them. I have cleaned her butt twice every day and her vent looks fine. It's just sticking to her and won't fall to the ground without my help. I put chick electrolytes in their water and I've been trying to feed them protein. They have chick starter crumble as well. Also, is it okay if the mother hen drinks their water too? They are 6 days old

Not sure since they are with momma hen but maybe try the vasoline on chick's butt route and put Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar in the water. Good for everyone, so couldn't hurt. You only use 1T ACV/gal of water. Hope it solves problem

I think that chick is just the weak one of the group. I removed her and have her in a brooder. The pasty butt has cleared up. All the chicks are now 7 days old but this one was not growing and seemed to just want to sleep under momma all day long. She seems to be eating and drinking. She has also perked up. I took someone's advice and fed her egg yolk last night and this morning. Any advice on catching a weak/smaller chick up to speed with her flock mates
