Pasty Butt issue

What kind of heat source are you using? If a heat lamp, what's the temperature in the brooder under the lamp, as well as away from the lamp?

Pasty butt can possibly be caused by the brooder being too hot, so if all of them have it, my inclination would be to reduce the temperature in there.

We use a heat lamp that is at 90° right now.

How old are the chicks, about 1 week old?

Is the entire brooder 90 or is there a cooler area (and if so, how cool does it get?) Ideally you'd want to have at least half the brooder at 80-85 or so.

They will be 2 weeks old on Monday. Directly under the heat lamp is 90 degrees but around the entire container IDK. We have a few cold spells every once in a while and it gets as low as 40 degrees sometimes.

I'd drop the temperature about 5 degrees in the warm spot, see how they do with that.
