Patience while waiting

Tee-hee, yeah, we're at work for a pretty large chunk of the day (gods I'm going to have to get up early this winter for the feather butts), and the *very* first thing I do after I'm dressed in the mornings, and after I let the dog out in the afternoons is check on the eggs... Thankfully my husband is slightly more mellow but just as excited as I am so he's not mocking me too much.. lol Our daughter is exceedingly amused though (she doesn't *quite* get that the eggs will be chickens, she knows we have eggs in a box and will have chickens but the connection isn't clear to her yet)..

I have to admit to being a VERY bad chicken mommy last night and candling one of the lighter eggs, but... It's only just day 3, and I knew it was pretty unlikely that anything would show yet to my inexperienced eye.. So yeah.. I did one egg.. Didn't see anything. I don't know if it's because it happened to be an infertile egg, or if I just didn't see what I was supposed to or what.. I have to admit to being tempted to check another tonight, but.. It will be a long delay between candling any one egg.

Gah I feel like such a moron. *laughs* I have no idea what I'm doing and am trying to be patient and not try to rush things etc, but.. It's hard!!!!

hehehe, it's better than being pregnant, but only sort of.. lol

We've got no choice at this point, the friend who provided the eggs has bred for non-broody hens, so getting chicks would be rough... And we figured that at this stage in the game, we don't need pure bred anythings, so... *grin*

I'm wondering if my patience is good enough for this project..

lol
