I'm in. I have to think about doing something that other's forget, like socks and underpants for the homeless. Perhaps I will try to organize a coat drive, as it is starting to get cold here and January is always the worst (cold and rainy). :yesss:

During the hight of the Covid pandemic, here in New Orleans, people started a porch refrigerator program. Some people placed old refrigerators on their porches (plugged in) where people could leave food that you could not get at a food pantry. Anyone who was in need could take what they needed, no questions asked. Fresh eggs were very popular! You could locate who had porch refrigerators on a neighborhood/city chat site on the net.
It was such a wonderful and caring way to show love for the people of our city. There was never a report of problems from the porch refrigerators, no one ever harmed the homes or people who hosted the refrigerators. As things got back to normal, they seemed to fad away. I don't have a large porch, or an extra freezer, but I wonder if turkeys and/or hams might make a nice gift for those in need, but don't fall into the "in need" category.

Great ideas @Ursuline Chick ! 😊
We live in the country so we don't really see homelessness. In DesMoines though my heart breaks for homeless people in Iowa where they freeze to death in tents. Iowa winters are no place to be homeless. DesMoines tries to help the homeless but there are always those being missed I'm sure.

When I was in highschool, I stayed with my aunt for a week. She is a nun and used to run a center for people that needed help. The first floor was a store kind of like Goodwill. The basement was where the food was donated and handed out to the needy. I'll never forget, when we handed out the food, how many people were in line, waiting for their share. I was in charge of handing out the feminine supplies to the women. Most cried when I gave them the bag of supplies and every single one told me how needed the supplies were. I was only allowed to hand one bag to each lady but most begged for more. I couldn't give them more because we ran out by noon as it was. That always stuck with me, how happy those women were to get those supplies

I made a few White Chocolate Raspberry filled candies.
Then I made 9 dozen honey suckers, 3 batches worth.

It is truly sad how badly those products are needed and are usually forgotten about in "food" drives. I often wonder how many school age young ladies and working ladies miss school or call in to work because they are lacking those badly needed products.
The school I went to and DD attended also does a food drive every year, with each grade collecting different things for those in need. The nursery school collects treats and such for pets! Perhaps one of the older grades could be assigned feminine products. I think I may go talk to the high school principal about that. It is an all girls school that educates girls from 1 year old to grade 12. In my opinion the perfect place to make them aware of the need for something they take for granted.

An all girls school is a great place to do that!
