Paycheck problems

I agree..its more about your time...its like you worked for nothing..
i'd get that money also!

I'd bet dollars to donuts that your boss screwed up, not the Paychex place. We used one of those pay issuing services (except we did direct deposits thru them) and it's all submitted by the company to Paychex. There are codes they enter that say if it's weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc., pay. There are separate codes that you enter with each amount - one code and that would correlate with the dollar amount entered for your regular pay. Another code that's on another line that correlates with the amount for your overtime. Another for sick time used, etc. The boss entered the wrong code for what tyep of payment and she/he forgot to enter your overtime, but instead of just owning up to it and fixing it they are passing the buck. Stay on them. As a plus, if you do have to go over their head, THEIR boss will know they screwed up the pay system......so that might be added incentive to get it fixed before you have to go that far.

Good luck!

Usually you can call up Paychex and ask them if the mistake is on their end. The company that DH was with (recently laid off) uses Paychex. They had issues, but he was able to call them. If it is with your employer, climb up the ladder until it gets fixed! Good luck!

Paychex has been NOTHING but trouble for us though. I'm pretty sure it really was their screw-up, because they normally pay me overtime so why would they just NOT for 4 hours? Naaaa, somebody who entered the info just didn't carry the extra 4 hours into the overtime "box" or however their spreadsheets work.
We've gotten our checks days late before, Paychex's fault, and they did that funky 2 check thing....I mean it's just nothing but weird problems out of them. They had better be glad that I'm calling Scott, not Paychex!!

To top it all off, when our normal Paychex uh, "representative" went on vacation, her replacement was 10x better. I think we (as in my entire work) are just getting the bad end of the stick from Paychex.

I know Scott (the owner) pretty well - he's an upstanding guy, so I will get paid, but I just don't like the way that my immediate supervisor/boss doesn't seem too interested in helping me out.

Call up paychex directly and speak to the person who handles your account. Ask them to look through their records for the timeframe the mistake was made--you need your own records in front of you so that you can provide the correct information. If the information they have is correct, then they should be able to make the correction on their own. If their information is incorrect, then your company provided them with incorrect information, and they will need corrected informatin from someone in your company authorized to make that correction.

As to WHY small businesses use this type of company--it is far less expensive than hiring payroll personel, who not only pay the employees, but also file all the related taxes and THAT paperwork, plus payroll companies allow their customers to take advantage of benefit packages (notibly health care) that cost considerably less than a single small business can afford on its own (large numbers = lower rates).
