Paypal rant! Heads up egg sellers!

Ebay now owns paypal and ebay wants small to medium sellers gone. I only sell 2 to 3 items a week now, down from 2 to 300 a month a couple years ago. Egg sales on ebay are flat, buyers are going somewhere else. Paypal is part of the problem because now you must accept paypal and the buyer is strapped to paypal or credit card. I have started posting on craigs list, but nothing so far. I would prefer to sell locally with cash or money orders as the postal service has become unreliable. I have heard that eggbid is a poorly run site so I have not listed with them yet. I think it is time for my own website, or trying BYC and sticking to money orders only. I just found out that a buyer from 2 months ago did a charge back, paypal never even told me, and I had no chance to contest it, as it did not show up in the resolution page. I only found out because the scammer came back for more eggs and I looked up the old transaction. Paypal and ebay are nothing but a home for scammers now.

It's a very real clause in the user agreement- the key is to ship via USPS by buying the shipping through ebay, thus allowing the shipping confirmation/tracking number to automatically hit the ebay/paypal system. You can also upload the tracking number in PayPal to show that it's sent in order to release the hold.


10.6 eBay Item Hold. PayPal, in its sole discretion, may place a hold on a payment you receive for an eBay transaction when PayPal believes there may be a high level of risk associated with the transaction. If PayPal places a hold on your payment, it will show as "pending" in your PayPal Account.

Release of eBay item hold. PayPal will release the eBay item hold after 21 days unless you receive a Dispute, Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal on the transaction subject to the hold. PayPal may release the hold earlier if either of the following applies:
1. The buyer leaves positive feedback on eBay, or
2. PayPal can confirm delivery. PayPal will confirm delivery if you use USPS, UPS or FedEx to ship the item and use PayPal shipping labels, or if you upload tracking information to PayPal via the transaction details page. This applies to US domestic transactions only.
2. Additional hold period. If you receive a Dispute, Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal on the transaction subject to the eBay item hold, PayPal may hold the payment in your Account until the matter is resolved pursuant to this Agreement.
