Paypal rant! Heads up egg sellers!

I too gave up selling on Ebay several years ago. It's just getting too risky for sellers. All the protections were starting to lean very, very much to the buyers (and Ebay of course!), so I just checked out and now I sell more local on Craigslist, etc.

Sorry to hear that they are pulling another stunt and that it will effect you!

I got that email about 6 months ago. I sold 2 Windstone dragons, which I had sold some other peices before. No problem. But I usually bought, I had only sold about 6 items. I had a 100% rating, usually when I paid people didn't leave feedback, no big deal. Well Paypal told me you had to have a 100 beside your name and 100% rating. I was just about to start selling eggs on ebay and I asked them did that include hatching eggs and they said yes. I have never sold another thing on ebay and wont. Luckily the 2 people that bought my dragons gave me immediate feedback so they released my funds.

Ive bought and sold on ebay. Havent yet this year. But I have never gotten that email. But when I just bought something off of ebay last week. I started getting fake paypal emails. You can usually tell. But some scammers are getting really good and some of the email addys they send them from look really real. Never sign in from the links those emails give you. When I get those emails I alway go straight to paypal to look to see what is going on. I got one email saying that I bought some thing that was over $200 and the funds were not there and they were going to freeze my account. That one looked real. So I went straight to paypal and signed in there. It said I had no activity at all.. So I forwarded the email to paypal.

I think it's a spoof, we had quite a few auctions end on Sunday and the payment went straight thru, a couple didn't pay until yesterday and their payment went thru as well? Years ago we made our paypal and ebay a different email from sandspoultry. We get mail all the time from ebay and paypal addressed to sands so anything that goes there is a spoof. I don't know about anybody else but it seems this year the level of scammer type emails we get have gone through the roof.

Yep had that happened numberous times and hubby's too. I told him to always check PayPal first to make sure if there is any activity in there. If not, then it is a scam. Also the email line should indicate something as well.

I had one that "tapped" into my account from Ebay which we did not authorized. From what our bank caught it because it was from Romania, they called us to verify if we bought a digital camera from the camera shop in Romania for $130.00 and we told the bank, no, we did not authorize it. So they said they will not take that money to them, and inform the camera shop that someone "lifted" the card numbers from us somewhere and the shop will have to either eat the cost of a lost or stolen merchandise or have them arrested for theft. So thanks to our bank for catching it, and it was not the only time it happened and our funds were unaffected so far. I doubt if it is Paypal which they never gave me any problems but agree that the % rates are getting expensive. Each time a hacker gets our card number, the bank changed it and re issue a new card to each one of us without any cost. Not very many banks will go the distance to work with us in fraud or questionable purchases.

Even with the "lock" on the corner of your screen does not always give security. Somehow hackers get by passed it and figured out how to get your numbers. So it is a risk and it is up the customers to make sure to check their accounts online daily to make sure there are no surprises or unauthorized purchases.

all this info about holding funds is on the front page of your PP account after you sign in. I believe it is on the right side, something along the lines of forum or FAQ's. So the holding of the funds is a real thing, BUT it depends on your number, not your %.

Hmmmm- I didn't get anything like that- but we mostly sell furniture. How do they know what you sell though? When I send out an invoice it only says "goods" or "services". That just plain sucks!

My feedback number is 571. I'm no where near a new seller! It's just aggravating. Right now with the sales I've had on Ebay over the last few days, I have almost $200 "pending". UGH! I have and have always had 100% feedback. It's nuts!

I use paypal for deposits only,,if I sell something I have them give me a $5 deposit with paypal, and MO or pay cash the rest..this way it kind of locks people in and I dont get so many no-showers,,I do this only with strangers,,and even some of them after I talk with them the phone I will skip the deposit,,just depends on the vibe I get from them..
