Pea Eggs Scheduled to Hatch?

Lil Zoo,,,see how we get off topic here??? My grandparents(grandmother actually) used to have chickens during the great depression,,once each week they took eggs to Chicago, and actually bought a 80 acre farm during the depression mostly from egg sales. She had 200 leghorns and a 40x14 chicken house with 2 rooms, one had wall nest boxes and feeders, the other room had roosts. My dad always had chickens for showing, mainly Silver Seabrights and Dark Cornish was his favorites.I got started back in high school raising Trumpeter pigeons,,sold them all after 3-4 years,,then about 4 years ago decided since my partying days was about over,to get some french marans eggs and an incubator.
Everyone was getting on the Marans bandwagon, and the more I read and what some of the so called "founding" breeders-importers was doing with Marans, kinda left a bad taste in my mouth,,especially when these breeders was making their own set of breed standards to match the mixed up cross bred birds they had bred. Then came Peafowl,,,I thought 3-4 would be nice to have out here,,but as I researched into them more there was no "breed standard" or set guidelines,,but what was intriguing was the genetics,,my dad was a genetic guru,,with chickens anyway,,and his show winnings proved it.
I guess when I hatched out my Charcoal male Kingsford and learned how rare he was really got me interested in peasThen I wanted a trio of every color,or a pen of the correct birds to be able to hatch every pattern of that color.I have the space and have been laid off work so it seemed possible,,to build and expand.Granted, peas aren't as friendly as dogs,,but they are inquisitive and fun to watch.
If your hubby won't give up his 60' long shed,,how hard would it be to just extend the roof on one side10-12',,then possibly add a few petition walls? Just a place for a perch and some cover with pens extending from the back wall of the shed? If your doing this with a cost balance sheet in mind it may not work,as I have waay more money in Pea Palace with the 24x30 building than I can recoup in a short amount of time,,over 10 years,,yes!!
I seen a super dark Bronze hen at Mt Hope,,I already had bought my Bronze male "UPS",,and now I needed hens so I bid her up to $190 then quit,,I only paid $200 for UPS,,and I would have went higher on him. Most all the 2-3 yr old hens I did get bought thru the auction sold for about $120 each,,the highest priced Peacock I watched sell was a Bronze White Eye male,,$600.If you look at selling birds for a premium,,the birds with the most available genetics such as b/s,w/e always sells for more because it would take you or me about 6 years of breeding ourselves to get these genetics into a breeding pen.Selling at Swap Meets is another option,,but it's not as species specific such as an auction like Mt Hope. There is 1000 roundtrip miles worth of reasons why I hated that auction-location,but with peafowl breeders and owners being so far apart and in relatively small numbers,,it is species specific with a HUGE amount of sellers offering a great oppurtunity.I do this for fun,,,since there is no "breed standard" for peafowl in showrings noone has a claim to fame in that dept.
I am wanting to breed and hatch a "symetrical pied",,and I now have the correct birds for doing so,,now I just need a high number of pied birds to get the correct pattern I'm wanting to get.The extra birds will help pay for feed and Merlot,,

Sorry I didn't get back with you. I really would like to talk more about this. I got real sick last night, just got home from the hospital. Nothing life threatening just part of this **** disease. I guess kidney stones and severe uninary infections are another symptom. What do eyes have to do with kidneys??? Doctors don't want to talk much when they can't fix something. Going to hit the sack,

Kuntrygirl,,,,you decide and purchase your "bottle of hatching stress relief" yet?

Oh yes!!!! So far, I have Barefoot Muscato, Sutter Muscato and Sutter White Zinfandel. I'm planning to get 3 more bottles to wait for and congratulate pea hatches for Terri, Lil Zoo and you. Did I leave anyone out? Shopping day is tomorrow. I have a list of about 10 different sweet wines. LOL

Oh and thanks for asking. Lol
