We were out taking some pics yesterday and got a few of ours. We took them out of the breeding pens about a week ago and they seem much more content to have more room. One of the hens jumps out of the pen every morning at takes a walk around the yard. She keeps checking out the garden - know she is looking for red tomatos.lol

how do you keep them out of the garden? aslo, did you just turn them out because they are through laying? i want to turn mine out but i am afraid they will wipe out the garden. thanks

The way they can jump and fly there is no way to keep them out of the garden. We just plant extra, and they don't really eat much. Yes we just turned them out, the breeding pens are much smaller. This trio's pen is about a 1/3 of an acre, they share it with White Embden Geese, Bourbon Red Turkeys and Buff Orp. Chickens. They kind of have a routine going, they come out in the morning for a walk and then again in the late afternoon. The pen is set back in the woods so it's shady and alot cooler. I just looked out the window and "Mr P" is laying in the sun napping. So much for shade and cooler. lol
