Chapter Three : The Friendly Giant
There was a boy (in his early teens, by the looks of him) sleeping on the floor. The alarm clock beside him read 3:00 AM. The red numerals glared like eyes in the darkness. Under his head was a book, and a white box lay beside him. The boy was slowly aroused by a soft cheeping, emitting from the box.
He shook his head and rose to his knees. He grabbed something resting on top of the box and fumbled until he flicked a switch. The object glowed as brightly as a small sun. Ever so slowly and cautiously, he bent his head and peered into the box. He stared into the white box for a few minutes then shook his head. He stood up, glancing at the clock, and shuffled out of the room. When he returned he was burdened by three little fluffy things and something quite large that he set carefully on the floor. He departed once more and came back with a larger fluffy thing. He placed this on the floor as well. He moved his hands. They were large and white with skinny fingers; clearly this boy did not get out much.
