A bit different I know but a predator nonetheless. We recently had a bumper crop of peaches on our tree which is about 10 feet tall. Overnight, every one of them dissapeared. No sign of trample marks and not a single piece of fruit left on either the ground or the tree. My first thought was Deer but I have my doubts they could reach the higher branches and leave none broken. Could the two legged predator be brazen enough to come up the driveway and steal them ? They weren't ripe at the time but getting there. This happened to a friend last year and he figured human responsibility but has anyone else had this problem ?

That would be my guess, too. I lost all my berries this year due to squirrels. The day before they were ready to be picked...POOF...gone. I found hundreds of little tiny paw prints everywhere, so I knew it was them and not birds.

Well I guess it;s possible that squirrels helped themselves to the motherlode but bloody hell, do you think it likely that the they had a concerted effort to snaffle ALL the fruit on the exact same occasion ? I have doubts, squirrels are sneaky and coniving but the last time I checked they were not in cahoots with each other to rip off the orchard on some predetermined schedule.
On the other hand, it is entirely possible that I have disregarded the thieving propensity of the little ---- and probably should have shot the things before it got this far.

Bugger all peaches this year
