But, the lungs looked good. Not sure about the liver.... Were there two seperate pieces of the liver? If so one piece looked good but the other piece did not look healthy. ?

Good job, Othman! That had to be hard for you.![]()
I don't have enough experience to tell what was wrong with the bird -- someone else will have to do that. Did your friend who did the procedure notice anything?
One thing I thought I saw was that the crop was full, but did not appear damaged. Did you see any damage to the esophagus or crop? I didn't see anything obvious in the photos, but again, I am NOT an expert at this.
But if that's correct, if there was no damage to the crop or esophagus, then that means that your tube feeding with your improvised tube did not injure the bird. I know that was something you worried about. I'm still hoping you will be able to locate a catheter or something less rigid soon, but it must be a big relief that the tubing procedure didn't cause any injury.
I know you did your absolute best for this little guy. He didn't pull through, but I think you gave him more of a chance than he would have had without your efforts.
I have looked really hard at these pictures, and I really don't know what I am looking for either. But, what is the browish or dark stuff that I see on/in the intestinal cavity? That does not seem normal to me.
No, i didn't, even so i don't know what i was looking at, the only think i thought i saw is that liver damaged, this are the two parts of the liver:Othman, did you find any part of the insides that looked like they had ruptured? I just don't remember the intestinal cavity looking that "messy" on chickens I have butchered....
Thank you Kathy this is so generous of you, i will send you the images, but the video can't be sent by mail its so big, i will sent the youtube link.@q8peafowl , if you want, email all the pictures and video to me and I'll forward them to avian pathologist and see if he'll comment. My email is [email protected].

Quote: The liver doesn't look good, but it doesn't look like blackhead either, which is why I wan to send the pictures to the pathologist. In the picture I see the two parts of the liver, what is the third piece? Was that attached to the liver?

Sorry, i don't know what is this. The liver doesn't look good, but it doesn't look like blackhead either, which is why I wan to send the pictures to the pathologist. In the picture I see the two parts of the liver, what is the third piece? Was that attached to the liver?

Does it look like blackhead to you?Half of the liver is diseased but not as you would normally expect. That is strange looking. That thing laying next to the liver may be the gall bladder.
You are correct that is not normal and i see dead tissue in the cavity, it looks like some kind of internal damage was done killing the tissue and that dark stuff looks like stale blood IMO.I have looked really hard at these pictures, and I really don't know what I am looking for either. But, what is the browish or dark stuff that I see on/in the intestinal cavity? That does not seem normal to me.
